  Parking

The City controls almost 49,000 parking spaces as well as spaces along the 7,200 miles of road in the City. The Department of Transportation (LADOT) operates 118 public parking lots and garages; manages on-street parking through meters, color curbs , and various parking permits . LADOT also enforces parking regulations through the Parking Enforcement Division.

The Department of Transportation also offers parking services to those with specialized permits. The Department makes provisions for residents who live in preferential parking districts and those who require overnight parking passes.

LADOT traffic officers regularly patrol parking areas along City streets and metered zones, enforcing parking regulations with citations. The traffic officers help ensure:

  • Optimal traffic flow
  • Roadway safety
  • Turnover at metered and lot spaces

Motorists who do not comply with parking regulations jeopardize the safety and mobility of others. For this reason, parking violators are subject to:

  • Parking citations
  • Fines
  • Tow-away
  • “Booting” devices
  • Holds on vehicle registration by the California DMV

Parking violation fines must be paid. Payments are accepted by mail and telephone in-person , or online through the Parking Violations Bureau . If you believe a citation was issued in error, you may contest the citation by contacting the Parking Violation Bureau.
