Pedestrian Advisory Committee

The Pedestrian Advisory Committee (PAC) advises the City of Los Angeles on pedestrian issues.

Mission
To create a safe pedestrian environment and to encourage walking as a viable travel mode

Goals

  • Promote safe behavior by both pedestrians and motorists
  • Identify locations where pedestrian safety is most at risk
  • Recommend physical, operational, and policy changes to reduce the risk of pedestrian fatalities and injuries
  • Recommend improvements to pedestrian facilities to make walking attractive
  • Provide pedestrian-oriented recommendations on land use plans

Members
All members are appointed by the City Council or public agency:

  • 15 public members (1 per Council district)
  • 15 Council staff (1 per Council district)
  • Staff from public agencies whose activities impact pedestrians:
    • LADOT
    • Department of City Planning
    • LAPD
    • Bureau of Engineering
    • Bureau of Street Lighting
    • Bureau of Street Services
    • LAUSD
    • MTA
    • Caltrans
    • LA Co. Department of Public Health
    • LA Co. Department of Public Works
    • AAA
    • Safe Moves

How to Join
Interested members of the public should contact their Council member.  Each Council member may appoint or remove members via letter to the general manager of LADOT.

When: Every other month on the third Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
