Rita
L. Robinson was appointed General Manager of the Los
Angeles Department of Transportation in September
2007. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations
of over 2,000 employees whose mission is to provide
for the safe and optimal mobility of people and goods
throughout the City of Los Angeles to support economic
activity and desirable quality of life.
Ms. Robinson also serves on Metro's Board of Directors. Before her appointment to the Transportation
Department, Ms. Robinson directed the Department of
Public Works Bureau of Sanitation. Prior to becoming
the Bureau of Sanitation’s Director in January
2004, Ms. Robinson served as interim General Manger
of the Los Angeles Housing Department for one year
and as interim General Manager of LADOT for six months.
Ms. Robinson, a longtime resident
of Southern California and a 1975 graduate of Scripps
College in Claremont, California, is a 30-year City
employee and has served in a number of capacities
in Los Angeles city government, including the Office
of the City Administrative Officer, Department of
Recreation and Parks, and the Community Development
Department.
John E. Fisher is the Assistant General Manager in
charge of Transportation Operations. In this capacity
since 1999, John is a Department veteran, joining LADOT
in 1973, where he has held positions with progressively
higher responsibilities. He is a graduate of California
State University, Long Beach, and has degrees in Civil
Engineering (Bachelors) and Public Administration
(Masters.) John also holds university certificates
in Transportation Systems Management, Leadership For
the 21st Century and Future Focused Leadership.
He is a California registered Civil Engineer and Traffic
Engineer. Further, he is a nationally certified Professional
Traffic Operations Engineer. As a Fellow with the
Institute of Transportation Engineers, he holds several
leadership positions and is a member of the American
Society of Civil Engineers. John is also an active
participant with the Transportation Research Board
and the Women’s Transportation Seminar.
As a voting member of the National
Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and of
the California Traffic Control Devices Committee,
he advises the Federal Highway Administration and
Caltrans, respectively, on innovations in traffic
controls that should be adopted to improve traffic
flow and safety. He has authored several national
and local articles on transportation. John’s

Amir
Sedadi is the Assistant General Manager responsible
for Parking Management and Regulations. Selected for this position
in November 2006, he first joined the Department in
1990, in the Bureau of Transportation Programs and
Development. After holding positions of increased
responsibility in the Bureau of Traffic Management,
Rail Transit Design & Construction Management,
Office of Parking Management, and as Mayor & City
Council Liaison, Amir became an Assistant Deputy Director
for Mayor James K. Hahn before his appointment as
Parking Administrator with the City of Pasadena, Department
of Transportation.
He is a graduate of California State University Long
Beach, and has a degree in Electrical Engineering
(Bachelors.) A registered Professional Traffic Engineer
in the State of California, he is also a member of
the Institute of Transportation Engineers, International
Parking Institute, California Public Parking Association,
and a former Board Member of METRANS Transportation
Research Center, (University of Southern California and Cal State Long Beach.)
Amir has published two papers entitled “Best
Parking Management Practices” and “Technologies
in Parking” for ITE’s Annual Conference
in Milwaukee, August 2006.
Selwyn Hollins is the Acting Assistant General Manager
for Finance and Administration. He joined the City
of Los Angeles as a Management Assistant in 1991.
Selwyn has worked with the Department of Water and
Power, Department of Personnel, and the Los Angeles
World Airports, before joining LADOT in 2004 as a
Chief Management Analyst. His professional background
includes financial management, contract administration,
investigative analysis, employee development, and
public relations. Selwyn graduated from California
State University, Long Beach with a degree in Business
Administration (Bachelors) and from the University
of Southern California with a degree in Communications
Management (Masters.)
