The Department’s Strategic Plan

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation has developed a strategic plan that guides the organization as it works to manage transportation in the City of Los Angeles and supports the Mayor’s transportation initiatives: convenience, reliability, speed and safety.

LADOT’s strategic plan outlines a vision, mission statement, goals and guiding principles for the Department to use as it continues to improve transportation.

LADOT will achieve its vision – “A vibrant city through enhanced mobility” – when it fulfills its mission, which will be accomplished when the Department reaches its strategic goals. LADOT will be lead by a set of guiding principles throughout the process.

Mission
To provide for safe and optimal mobility of people and goods throughout the City of Los Angeles, in support of economic activity and a desirable quality of life.

	Strategic Goals
	Transform LADOT to be the leader in mobility in Los Angeles. Set and achieve long-term outcomes for transportation in Los Angeles: a strategic transportation plan, stakeholder collaboration and transportation think-tank. Improve services and products to enhance quality of life by increasing mobility and safety. Utilize pricing to both manage demand and supply in transportation modalities. Use strategic sourcing as a means to effectively deliver and manage services and programs. Acquire additional transportation funding resources for the City of Los Angeles. Utilize technology and innovation to have more options in crafting better solutions.
