Opening Day is always a special occasion, filled with anticipation, excitement, and the promise of a thrilling season ahead. It's a time when fans come together to cheer on our beloved team, united in our love for the game and our city.
At LADOT, we take pride in our role of making sure fans can get to and from Dodger Stadium on game day safely and efficiently. For each home game of the coming season, LADOT Special Traffic Operations will build a dedicated bus-only lane along Cesar Chavez Blvd and Sunset Blvd to make getting from Union Station to the game easy on the free Dodger Shuttle. Traffic Officers also deploy at key locations around the stadium to direct traffic. So whether you drive, take transit, or walk, please remember to travel safely so everyone can enjoy a great night at the ballpark.

LADOT and Councilmember Soto-Martinez Unveil Plans to Transform Hollywood Boulevard
On March 22, LADOT joined Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and community members to reveal plans to transform Hollywood Boulevard. Through a collaboration with the Bureau of Engineering, businesses, community groups, and Councilmembers Hugo Soto-Martinez and Nithya Raman, we have reimagined the street to be safer and more accessible for all road users.
The project comprises two significant initiatives. The first, led by LADOT, targets the eastern section of Hollywood Boulevard, from Gower St to the intersection of Sunset Blvd and Fountain Ave. The Hollywood Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project aims to enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety through a series of planned improvements including a protected bike lane for the length of the project as well as improved crosswalks and pedestrian improvements. The Walk of Fame Master Plan, led by the Bureau of Engineering (BOE), focuses on the segment from Gower St to La Brea Ave. This initiative will introduce aesthetic and functional enhancements such as street furnishing, landscaping, expanded outdoor dining as well as a dedicated bus-bike only lanes to improve the overall experience for visitors and safety for people traveling and exploring the Walk of Fame.
By calming traffic, adding protected bike lanes, enhancing pedestrian safety, facilitating safer turns, and providing dedicated space for cyclists and scooter users Hollywood Blvd can be made a safer place to visit and explore which will in turn support businesses and the local economy. Through this project, we can ensure Hollywood Boulevard remains a vital corridor for both visitors and Angelenos alike and build a corridor worthy of its famous name.

LADOT and Metro Celebrate the Completion of the Sepulveda Blvd Bus Lanes Project
This week, LADOT joined Councilmember Imelda Padilla, Metro, project partners, and residents of the San Fernando Valley to celebrate the completion of the Sepulveda Blvd Bus Lanes project. The Sepulveda Bus-only lane runs along a 5.5-mile segment of Sepulveda Bl from Ventura Bl to Rayen St and a 0.9-mile segment along Westbound Ventura Bl from Vesper Av to Sepulveda Bl.
Since the fall of 2020, LADOT and Metro have worked with the communities of Van Nuys, Panorama City, and Sherman Oaks to create a project that reflects the needs of this corridor and supports all road users. The newly introduced lanes improve bus service along the corridor, accommodating over 12,000 daily commuters with enhanced speed, frequency, and reliability. The project has maintained all current parking spaces to support residents and businesses. Additionally, these lanes will facilitate access to approximately 40,000 job opportunities and serve the needs of over 88,000 residents. Key locations such as Sherman Oaks Galleria, Valley Presbyterian Hospital, and the Sepulveda G Line Station are now more accessible, making this improvement a step towards connecting communities.
The Sepulveda Blvd Bus Lanes Project symbolizes the City's commitment to sustainable transportation and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. As Los Angeles continues to evolve its transit infrastructure, initiatives like this pave the way for a more connected, accessible, and environmentally friendly transportation system for all.
Staff Spotlight: Armando Lopez, Transportation Planning Associate II
Armando Lopez, a Transportation Planning Associate II at LADOT, serves as a Project Manager for the LANow microtransit service within the Specialized Transit Group. His decision to pursue a career in transportation originates from his experience as a frequent transit user, particularly during his school days. This experience instilled in him a strong belief in the significance of ensuring accessible transportation for everyone.
He appreciates Los Angeles for its highly interconnected transit network, offering multimodal transit options that reflect the city's diverse population. At LADOT, Armando has observed significant changes, notably the gradual electrification of the LADOT fleet. This includes the expansion of facilities to support the necessary charging infrastructure for transitioning to zero-emission transit vehicles. He firmly believes that this shift will not only reduce emissions from public transit operations but also benefit the LA region as a whole. We thank Armando for his commitment to enhancing transportation accessibility for Angelenos.
