Cityride Users Can Now Elect to Automatically Load Metro Passes onto TAP Cards
Cityride participants can skip lines at Metro Customer Centers and instead opt to have their monthly Metro passes loaded automatically onto their TAP cards.

LADOT Launches Real Time Information System
The City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) has launched a real time passenger information system for riders
of LADOT's DASH Downtown circulator bus service. LADOT developed the system with Synchromatics.Real time information refers to providing schedule and route
information using wireless technology. Information can be accessed by phone, text, mobile web or regular web.

Department of Transportation Announces Safety Guidelines for Trick-or-Treaters on Halloween
The City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) wants to remind parents that Halloween is a great time to teach children about pedestrian and traffic safety.
LADOT has issued simple guidelines that will help safeguard children on Halloween night and whenever they walk in their neighborhoods at night.

ATTENTION: An Important Message to the Riders of LADOT Services
LADOT has begun an analysis of all of its transit services to respond to the significant budget shortfall facing its transit services program.
The analysis will focus on underperforming routes with low ridership as well as services that may be duplicative of services provided by other agencies such as Metro to
determine how to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of LADOT’s services and cut its costs.

Car Share Parking in Los Angeles
The City of Los Angeles is partnering with Zipcar, the world's leading car sharing company,
to provide access to vehicles by the hour or the day in highly populated areas near the University of Southern California, and the
University of California, Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation has identified ten parking spots in each neighborhood
for the exclusive use of the car sharing vehicles during this pilot program beginning this summer.For more information about the

LADOT Traffic Safety Program Wins Local Emmy
The Department of Transportation is very excited to announce that its traffic safety and education program, Watch the Road,
has won a local Emmy award. Watch the Road gained the nomination in the 61st Annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards for its
30-second public service announcement, "Pedestrian Awareness." The PSA, which aired on local channels in 2008, strikingly highlighted
safety awareness for pedestrians.
Watch the Road received a 2006 Emmy award in the Best Public Service Announcement category for a PSA promoting bicycle safety.

LADOT’s Cityride Program Introduces New Fare Card October 1, 2009
Cityride enables seniors and persons with disabilities to use transportation services at a substantial discount.
The new fare payment method does not affect any of the
current program benefits, and Cityride customers will still receive the same amount of credit each quarter. Learn more by visiting the Cityride website.
Introducing the LADOT What's New Archives
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation is pleased to introduce an archive section for LADOT postings and past updates that have been removed from the main page.

New Bicycle Racks Installed
Look for brand new bicycle racks using former parking meter poles throughout the City of Los Angeles. These 'sleeve' racks are mounted over previous parking meter poles where Park & Pay machines have been installed recently. A listing of locations is here.
Olympic West Pico East Summary
Following a Los Angeles Superior Court ruling on Monday, May 5, 2008 installation of the Olympic West Pico East Initiative will be delayed.
The Initiative will move forward following a more extensive environmental review currently underway, with expected
completion in October 2009. Information on the Mayor's initiative to relieve traffic congestion on Olympic and Pico Boulevards is available
here. Studies and reports are available online.
New Parking Meter Rates Going Into Effect
Rates will be phased in from Sep to Dec 2008 throughout the City of Los Angeles.
Check out the new range of rates and the increased hours of increased operation in some parts of the City.

Park & Pay Stations Replace Old
Meters
LADOT has begun replacing outdated, single-space meters with
new Park
& Pay Stations. The new stations will improve parking
convenience, predictability and reliability. In addition to
coins, the new stations allow drivers to pay their parking
