2021 Hollywood Christmas Parade

The 89th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade Supporting Marine Toys for Tots was held this past Sunday, November 28, 2021, and for this year’s live parade there was a 3.2-mile U-shaped trek through the streets of Hollywood, CA. LADOT and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) collaboratively enforced road closures and parking restrictions throughout sections of Hollywood to assist with the 89th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade Supporting Marine Toys for Tots event.

This collaboration made it possible for maintaining and assuring the safety of all participants and attendees of the annual Hollywood Christmas Parade. This year’s parade featured 62 Hollywood celebrities and VIPS, 11 award-winning bands from around the country, 3 dazzling equestrians, 11 large-than-life four-story character balloons, 3 colorful floats including the Idaho Potato Truck Tour featuring an 18-Wheeler carting a two-story, two-ton potato down Hollywood Boulevard, and 258 novelties, including 49 movie cars.

CicLAvia - South LA 2021 on Sunday, December 5

This upcoming Sunday, December 5, CicLAvia is opening up streets in South LA, connecting the neighborhoods of South Central, Exposition Park, Leimert Park and Crenshaw. You may participate by riding, biking, skating, running, walking, skateboarding, spectating, and more. CicLAvia welcomes all people of all ages and abilities. This CicLAvia is presented by Metro working in collaboration with various City of Los Angeles departments, such as LADOT, to increase safety efforts in providing a fun and safe environment for all participants and attendees.

Every CicLAvia Sunday offers a chance to experience neighborhoods across Los Angeles in a new way. CicLAvia - South LA’s 5.3-mile route through South Central, Exposition Park, Leimert Park, and Crenshaw is lined with an immense amount of history, culture, architecture, art, food, parks, and outdoor activities.

LADOT will have booths showcasing upcoming projects and programs in South LA to improve mobility and safety within communities, including:

  • CARB STEP is a program supporting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, increasing access to clean transportation, and addressing community transportation needs through transportation and land-use projects in climate burdened neighborhoods. LADOT has launched a “Universal Basic Mobility” (UBM) Pilot using $7,077,770 in STEP grant funding, which was awarded by CARB on June 2, 2021, committed to fighting climate change and pursuing climate equity in underserved neighborhoods on the front lines of the climate crisis. Will be located at the CicLAvia - South LA’s Crenshaw Hub.
  • The Western Ave Improvement Project is a transformative project on Western Avenue to create a safe, beautiful, and state-of-the-art commercial corridor led by the City of Los Angeles. The City of Los Angeles is committed to eliminating traffic deaths and addressing the long history of disinvestment and blight on Western. Will be located at the CicLAvia - South LA’s MLK Hub.
  • South LA: Planning for Stress Free Connections is a program where LADOT is working with communities to identify potential connections and crossings on neighborhood streets that will make walking and biking easier and more stress-free, as proposed in the LADOT Mobility Plan 2035. Will be located at the CicLAvia - South LA’s MLK Hub.

LA Zoo Lights

L.A. Zoo Lights returns they are glad to welcome you back with more glowing animals and an unforgettable nighttime journey that includes the world’s largest illuminated pop-up storybook, a magical disco ball forest, giant glittering snowflakes, and a twinkling tunnel filled with dynamic swirls of color. Starts on November 19, 2021 to January 9, 2022, opening from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.
