New Decorative Crosswalk Installed in Wilmington

This weekend the intersection of Figueroa St. and L St closed for approximately 24 hours for the construction of a decorative crosswalk. The crosswalk is a part of a People Street program through which community partners applu for treatments in their neighborhoods. Best Start Wilmington partnered with Los Angeles Walks for the decorative crosswalk on Figueroa and L St.

The community came together to choose the location and design the artwork which highlights the neighborhood's connection to the Port of Los Angeles. Activating public spaces with projects like this helps to keep residents safe by grabbing drivers’ attention to slow down for pedestrians that may be using the crosswalk as well as make it a much more enjoyable experience for those walking, riding, or rolling in the neighborhood.
