South LA Stress-Free Connections Design Lab

Over the weekend Angelenos gathered in South L.A. for the Planning for Stress-Free Connections Network Design Lab and Tree Adoption workshop hosted by LADOT in partnership with the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI) and MIG.

Residents were able to help identify areas in the South L.A. neighborhood where they currently bike or walk that could use an update to help them feel safer and more comfortable during their commute. The network being looked at is one that is outlined on the Neighborhood Enhanced Network on the City's Mobility Plan 2035. Having this feedback, LADOT and the city can work to fix these stressful barriers and support those who want to walk or bike more. Participants at the workshop were also able to take home a fruit tree.

Repaving has been completed on Yosemite Drive and new pavement markings including bike lanes, and freshly update crosswalks are now installed between Townsend and Figueroa Ave.

StreetsLA, the Office of Councilmember Kevin de León, and community partners began working on Yosemite at the start of the year. There are more safety improvements to come such as new bicycle lanes, sharrows, updated signage.

These new and future improvements will help to reduce speeds on Yosemite Drive to create a safe and pleasant passage for all. Project completion is anticipated by 2/4/22. Please be aware of postage signage relative to street closures and parking restrictions.

 CDC Updated Mask Guidelines

CDC Updated Mask Guidelines

The CDC has updated its guidance on masks for the public saying that the most protective masks are the N95. While they do not make a special recommendation for the mask, they do say that it offers the best protection. The CDC recommends that everyone wear a mask that fits you well, and that is comfortable enough for you to wear consistently. More information is available on the CDC website.
