We recently joined Councilmember Paul Krekorian and StreetsLA to celebrate new ADA access to the Chandler Bike Path at Satsuma Ave and Cartwright Ave. In addition to the safe ADA access to the path for pedestrians and cyclists, the revamped design features new public art, recreation equipment, lighting, benches, and more.

Ribbon Cutting for New Signals Along Ventura Blvd

Last week, LADOT joined Councilmember Nithya Raman to cut the ribbon and celebrate the activation of three new signals along Ventura Blvd. The signal improvements include curb ramps, new pavement, and striping along with the traffic signal.

Efforts to install a signal at this location began 10 years ago at the request of the Chabad of Sherman Oaks whose membership makes frequent use of the crossing at Lemona & Ventura. LADOT worked to study this location to provide data proving that the location had sufficient foot traffic…

 

LADOT And Metro Celebrate Priority Bus Lanes On LaBrea Avenue

Last week LADOT joined Mayor Karen Bass, Metro, Councilmember Soto-Martinez, and Councilmember Yaroslavsky in celebrating the completion of Phase 1 of the La Brea Avenue Bus Priority Lanes. The 2.8-mile segment running along La Brea Avenue from Sunset Boulevard to Olympic Boulevard will the approximately 12,000 daily riders who rely on Metro’s Route 212 a faster, more reliable bus service so they can get where they need to go quickly, safely, and conveniently. Play Streets Brings Joy To Rampart Village

Over the weekend LADOT brought Play Streets to Rampart Village. On Saturday, young Angelenos were able to freely enjoy their neighborhood safely with programmed fun activities like blocks, chalk, jump ropes, soccer and much more. The Play Streets program temporarily clears a neighborhood street of cars and transforms the block into a safe space to play, learn, and enjoy. This brings a much-needed recreation space right to the community.

LA Al Fresco Prepares Transition to Permanent Program

With over 3,000 businesses having participated in the L.A. Al Fresco, the City is now working to make LA Al Fresco program permanent. The temporary program was launched in 2020 as a response to the COVID-19 emergency to promote the economic vitality of our City’s restaurants. By creating a streamlined process to allow restaurants to expand dining on streets, sidewalks, and private property near their establishments, the Al Fresco program proved to be a critical lifeline for restaurants. Fiscal Year 2022-23 was an exciting year for LADOT. We cut the ribbon on the City’s first-ever 24-hour dedicated bus lane outside of DTLA on Venice Blvd, which will improve travel times for an estimated 20,000 riders daily. We launched our latest DASH route in North Hollywood, connecting riders to schools, recreation, and the Metro B and G lines. We added or upgraded 22 miles of bike lanes, making it easier and safer to commute or run errands by bicycle.

LADOT is partnering with Los Angeles City Councilmembers Hugo Soto-Martínez and Nithya Raman to begin outreach for the Hollywood Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project. The project area will deliver safety improvements along Hollywood Blvd between Gower St and Lyman Pl. LADOT Supports Emergency Operations and Recovery During Tropical Cyclone Hilary

This weekend as, Tropical Storm Hilary approached Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass issued a local emergency declaration so that the city could coordinate resources and make the necessary preparations for the first-ever Tropical Storm alert to be issued for Los Angeles.

As the storm hit Sunday, the city experienced heavy rainfall resulting in dangerous flooding and other impacts to roads such as debris flows, downed tree limbs, and signal interruptions due to loss of power. Traffic officers originally…

Investing in Student Safety As Young Angelenos Return Back-To-School

Student safety is at the top of mind for LADOT as students return to school this week.
