Mariana Valdivia Latino Leader for Latino Heritage Month

LADOT celebrates Latino leaders who help create programs and projects that support safe, great streets for all. Mariana Valdivia is a Supervising Transportation Planner who helps create transportation projects that reduce collisions on L.A. streets.

Mariana currently manages the Vision Zero Planning group that focuses on safe, great streets for our City through corridor safety projects; Safe Routes to School, People St., Great Streets, and LA Al Fresco programs. She has served the City for 19 years as a city planner and has enjoyed a wide range of project development from clearing zoning conditions to providing technical support for the LAX modernization project.

Mariana was born and raised in Los Angeles, like her father. Her mother’s family came from Mexico at an early age. Mariana feels at home in the diversity of Los Angeles and she is proud of the perseverance, hard work, and innovation she sees in her family’s Mexican-American heritage.
