Safety Improvements Coming To Hollywood Blvd

Safety Improvements Coming To Hollywood Blvd.

LADOT is partnering with Los Angeles City Councilmembers Hugo Soto-Martínez and Nithya Raman to begin outreach for the Hollywood Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project. The project area will deliver safety improvements along Hollywood Blvd between Gower St and Lyman Pl. Between Hollywood Blvd is a thriving commercial corridor and runs through several diverse communities including Little Armenia and Thai Town, has many pedestrians and bicyclists, and provides access to several bus lines and subway stations. In an effort to reduce the number of crashes and achieve the greatest reduction in traffic injuries and fatalities, LADOT is prioritizing this street for safety improvements.

The goal of this project is to:

  • Improve traffic safety to reduce fatalities and severe injuries caused by car crashes.
  • Enhance connectivity to jobs, social services, transit and community resources.
  • Support sustainable modes of transportation like biking, walking and public transit.
  • Increase access to the Metro B (Red) Line.
  • Complement the upcoming redesign of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Please give us your feedback by filling out this survey on how we can better enhance one of the busiest commercial corridors in the city. Learn more about the Hollywood Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project.

LADOT Cuts the Ribbon For New Traffic Circle In Pacoima

LADOT Cuts the Ribbon For New Traffic Circle In Pacoima

Last week we joined Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, The Bureau of Engineering, and Community members for the ribbon-cutting of a new traffic circle on Telfair Ave & Montague St. LADOT secured funding from the CA Active Transportation Program (ATP-2) to implement transformative traffic-calming and Pacoima Traffic Circlesafety enhancements at a total of four intersections. The other three locations where traffic circles are installed are Ave 50 and Meridian, Rosewood and Martel, and 88th and McKinley.

The intersections are a part of the Neighborhood Enhanced Network which is under the Mobility Plan 2035 to prioritize enhancements that improve comfort, safety, and connectivity on local streets for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other slower modes. The City selected these four locations based on specific criteria such as proximity to schools, parks, and other destinations and activity generators, neighborhood-level safety data and crash history and 3 of these locations are in disadvantaged and historically underserved communities of Los Angeles (Pacoima, Highland Park, South LA)

By installing neighborhood traffic circles, we can improve safety, sense of place, and the built environment of the neighborhood to make the streets more comfortable to all road users..

New Bike Lane on Variel Ave. Expands Bike Network

Our bike network continues to expand with a new parking-protected bike lane in the San Fernando Valley on Variel Ave between Victory Blvd and Erwin St. The lanes use bollards to provide space and separation from drivers and parked vehicles allowing for a more comfortable, low-stress ride. LADOT is committed to improving and expanding our bike network with facilities that allow riders to feel safe and supported. Check out the new lane next time you're in the neighborhood!

Crossing Guards

LADOT Now Hiring Crossing Guards

LADOT is now accepting applications for new Crossing Guards. Crossing guards keep students safe traveling to and from school and help educate and instill safe, alert walking behaviors in young Angelenos. Our crossing guards are placed at schools throughout the city and help provide experience and judgment to help children navigate a school crossing, while also increasing the visibility of their presence to drivers.

If you are interested in applying for a crossing guard position you can visit the website for the application and instructions on how to apply.
