Play Streets Brings Joy To Rampart Village

Over the weekend LADOT brought Play Streets to Rampart Village. On Saturday, young Angelenos were able to freely enjoy their neighborhood safely with programmed fun activities like blocks, chalk, jump ropes, soccer and much more. The Play Streets program temporarily clears a neighborhood street of cars and transforms the block into a safe space to play, learn, and enjoy. This brings a much-needed recreation space right to the community.

Each play street is a partnership with community organizations as well as local elected offices. LADOT is committed to ensuring all Angelenos live in safe, vibrant, well-connected, and healthy communities. We look forward to delivering more Play Streets to other parts of the city.

Hollywood Blvd Safety Improvements

Safety Improvements Coming To Hollywood Blvd.

LADOT is partnering with Los Angeles City Councilmembers Hugo Soto-Martínez and Nithya Raman to begin outreach for the Hollywood Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project. The project area will deliver safety improvements along Hollywood Blvd between Gower St and Lyman Pl. Between Hollywood Blvd is a thriving commercial corridor and runs through several diverse communities including Little Armenia and Thai Town, has many pedestrians and bicyclists, and provides access to several bus lines and subway stations. In an effort to reduce the number of crashes and achieve the greatest reduction in traffic injuries and fatalities, LADOT is prioritizing this street for safety improvements.

The goal of this project is to:

  • Improve traffic safety to reduce fatalities and severe injuries caused by car crashes.
  • Enhance connectivity to jobs, social services, transit and community resources.
  • Support sustainable modes of transportation like biking, walking and public transit.
  • Increase access to the Metro B (Red) Line.
  • Complement the upcoming redesign of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Please give us your feedback by filling out this survey on how we can better enhance one of the busiest commercial corridors in the city. Learn more about the Hollywood Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project.

Our crossing guards are placed at schools throughout the city and help provide experience and judgment to help children navigate a school crossing, while also increasing the visibility of their presence to drivers.

If you are interested in applying for a crossing guard position you can visit the website for the application and instructions on how to apply.
